I have over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring English for a variety of purposes. I am comfortable teaching middle school reading and writing, high school reading and writing, Grammar and Mechanics, and ESL/ELL. If your student could retain more of what they read in their textbook, I can show them how to effectively use a highlighter to promote information retention. I can also show students how to work from an outline if they aren't already in the habit of doing so. I can also help students prepare for a variety of English-related high-stakes examinations, including ACT Reading, SAT Verbal, SAT Critical Reading, LSAT Reading Comprehension, GMAT Verbal, and the LSAT Essay Section. My approach to test prep combines an academic review of relevant concepts with an in-depth discussion of the particular exam's formatting to increase a student's self-confidence before test day.
