I'm currently an undergraduate student at York University pursuing a BA degree in English & professional writing.
Experience
I have a great deal of experience tutoring younger family members and classmates, starting from my middle years of high school (Gr 10-12). My knowledge of English and writing stems from a history of self-imposed study, writing experience, and college-level courses. I often write and reflect with peers that I've met through school and online communities with the goal to improve. Likewise, I commonly read and write media analyses out of sheer interest. I have participated in several courses specifically regarding basic principles of writing, including subjects that specifically refer to the art of essay writing and literary analysis. I have also invested a portion of my time into studying modes of reasoning to better express my thoughts without falling prey to fallacy. I seek a chance to tutor for the same reason I initially invested in a college-level education; I wish to take up the mantle of a teacher in my future and contribute to an educational system that I believe to be severely lacking and overflowing with uninspired, lackluster individuals. My experience in the education system has been inadequate, and I see it as an environment where only the naturally talented are allowed to stand out among their peers. It's for these reasons that I want a chance to contribute what I'd consider to be an effective, invested, and empathetic methodology, while also gaining experience on my way towards a profession in teaching.
