Experience
I have been tutoring high school biology and English for over six years. I tutored at the elementary level for two years. I also have much experience tutoring peers at the University level as well as with co-ordinating study groups and sessions. I want to be a tutor because I want to help students learn course material so that they can excel in their classes, become comfortable and enjoy the material they find difficult, and to help them understand/employ excellent study habits. I am a strong believer in self-motivated studying and I think that if students become interested in the material, they will naturally excel. I like to teach students HOW to gain that interest needed to propel them through school. I have taken many University level courses in the following fields: Molecular biology, cellular biology, evolutionary biology, biodiversity, earth sciences, physiology, microbiology, inquiry classes, creative writing, and English. I completed my undergraduate honors thesis in the field of enviornmental toxicology/physiology and my MSc thesis in collaboration with Aboriginal communities. I am the co-founder and education manager (Ontario programs) of a non-profit Canadian organization (www.thestarfish.ca)
